Love & Sunflowers Spring Collection 2016

Love & Sunflowers is one of my favorite brands to work with. During my recently photoshoot for their Spring 2016 collection, I wanted to shoot in a fun and playful lifestyle location. I picked Venice Canals and Topenga Canyon in Los Angeles as the perfect spot. I decided on these two locations to add variety to the brand’s imagery. Last time we shot at the beach in Malibu and I wanted to add a new environment to the lifestyle brand.

I focused on the two models playing, having fun and being active in the clothing. The two girls were jumping around in the sunkissed morning to show off the versatility and easily wearable quality of the clothing. I wanted the photos to evoke happiness, sunshine and warmth. To capture the playful side of Love & Sunflowers in a subtle way, we incorporated a few props - sunflowers, a classic cruiser bike and a cute French bulldog. I love using props likes these in a lifestyle shoot to add character and personality to the photos. It was important to capture the two girls being friends and having fun together without the photos looking forced or staged. Love & Sunflowers Spring 2016 lookbook was a huge success and I am looking forward to capturing more images with them soon!

My-D Apparel - Fashion Lifestyle in Los Angeles

The Italian made retailer, My-D (www.my-dusa.com) has been a favorite shop of mine for years. They have several shops in Italy and one on Melrose Avenue. Each month I get to shoot with the company all around Los Angeles. We have already done shoots Downtown, on Fairfax Ave and Melrose Ave. A few days ago we shot at the picturesque Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills, California. It was a beautiful sunny day at the ranch. Our model, Sierra Swartz (www.astonmodels.com)  is a classic American beauty and she shined with the rustic ranch backdrop, rolling dusty hills and horses. The stunning Western backdrop allowed the perfectly tailored clothes to be put on display. 

David Lorango at the Paramount Ranch

David Lorango is a country artist living in Los Angeles. His brand of feel good, everybody’s welcome country music has taken to across the state. He recently released a song entitled ‘Leaves of November’ on his newest EP ‘Ride All Night’.

As a photographer, I loved his different and unique ‘country in Hollywood’ look. I knew it would be great to photograph David at Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills, California. The sunny ranch mixes well with David’s California cowboy persona. I wanted to capture the warm tones of the fall leaves along with the rustic scenery on a sun drenched day.

I got a chance to ask David all sorts of questions throughout the day. It is always wonderful to have lengthy conversations with another creative in various fields. He told me that he had always had a love for country music. When he was a kid, his grandma would play Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and George Strait on the oldies stations. This love grew into a passion to write, sing and perform country music, and he hasn’t looked back since.

I photographed Frank Spotnitz for Emmy Magazine at the legendary Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. A true gentleman and a fascinating person.
